Everything You Need To Know About Your Oriental Planet

Hello, everyone! It’s Penny here!

I’m really excited about today’s topic! I have done a lot of research on it, and I think this is one of my favorite aspects of calculating a natal chart.

So, what exactly is an oriental planet?

If you are somewhat familiar with astrology, you might have heard that the Sun is our identity, while our ascendant sign symbolizes how people perceive us.

While these are extremely important while getting to know yourself and your chart, there is another planet which was born before your Sun in your natal chart. And that is called your oriental or your guiding planet, which emphasizes your innate skills since it was born right before your Sun( your core identity) was formed. Since the Sun is our character, our oriental planet represents our capabilities, our inherent skills, and abilities.

This can also give you an idea of your career path. Though astrologers usually use the MC point and other aspects for an accurate analysis of profession, your oriental planet/guiding planet can also give you a hint about your purpose.

In a sense, it can be said that your oriental planet is what people see before you. For example, mine is Mercury. Mercury is associated with writing, publishing, the mind, logic, languages. Whenever someone asks, ”What do you enjoy doing?” or ”What do you do in your leisure time?” I immediately reply ”Writing and learning new things.” I started writing song lyrics when I was 10, and now I’m writing my first collection of short stories and blog posts for my blog!

Another intriguing fact is that ladies, your oriental planet can provide you with information about your future significant other. If you want to learn about it, simply read the traits of your guiding planet!

Now, let’s talk about which planet might mean what and how you can calculate your oriental planet!

First, go to astro.com and create your natal chart.

You need to enter your birth details and your birth time has to be exact.

Here’s an example!

So, you can see that Venus is the planet that was born before the Sun.

Sun’s symbol: ☉

Venus’s symbol: ♀

If you have Mercury as your oriental planet, you value communication. You love writing and expressing your ideas. You might work as a teacher, lawyer, writer or blogger. You definitely love to be surrounded by books, too!

If you have Venus as your oriental planet, you love luxurious items, and you love beauty and aesthetics. You definitely have an amazing sense of fashion. You have a strong appreciation for art and artistic acts.

If you have the Moon as your oriental planet, you are very emotional. You feel everything on a very deep level. You have a maternal instinct and you would find peace near water. Your intuition is probably very heightened, too!

If you have Jupiter as your oriental planet, you love philosophy and you are interested in spirituality, too. You love learning about different cultures, religions and views of the world. You love helping people. You probably have a very compassionate nature, too.

If you have Saturn as your oriental planet, you love planning and having structure in everyday life. You are extremely determined, ambitious, and hard-working. You have a lot of resilience and wisdom. You follow the rules and value tradition.

If you have Mars as your oriental planet, you have a strong will and courage. You won’t be afraid to take action. You have a lot of internal energy! But this can bring impatience and sometimes anger issues, so be careful with it.

If you have Uranus as your oriental planet, you are a rebel at heart! You probably have dreams of the next innovation. You might act on impulse, too. You are authentic! You hate copycats. You might also think that rules are made to be broken.

If you have Neptune as your oriental planet, you have a dreamy nature. You might find yourself daydreaming often. You probably have an innate artistic talent; you love the arts in general. You are interested in mysticism. Music and artistic influences are under the influence of Neptune.

If you have Pluto as your oriental planet, oh gee! Convincing someone to do something is your top talent. You have an innate ability to be a detective. You could be the next Sherlock Holmes! But be careful; Pluto can give an obsessive nature. Use this power of Pluto in a positive way rather than a negative one.

Thank you so much for reading! Let me know if you have found this post interesting! Do you love learning about yourself via astrological interpretations?

Until next time,

Penny. x

  9. This is so incredible, it’s awesome! I was really looking forward to finding the time to read this post. You explain it so well! Thanks for sharing this, I’m going to dig deeper into the meaning o my oriental planet. I believe mine is Saturn but I have the north node between the Sun and Saturn – I shouldn’t consider it, right?

    1. Thank you so much for reading Vanessa! Nope, you don’t need to consider your north node, if Saturn comes before your Sun in your natal chart, then your oriental planet is Saturn. 🙂 xx Penny

  10. Those was lovely. I loved every word of reading it. I am intrigued by the subject but ironically I also don’t know much about the subject. It is something to divenin completely and I haven’t done that. So yea, this was all new to me and new terms. I lie around Venus and moon but a around 1 attributes from almost other remaining planets too. We are complex after all. It was a great research Penny. Also, I didn’t know you’re doing short stories too soon. Best of luck to that. Looking forward to it. Xx
