Hey guys! Penny here once again!
Today, I want to talk about an important subject: Writing! I’ve never knew how writing makes you feel relaxed! Whenever I feel down or stressed, I grab my journal and my pen and jot down everything! I feel like writing down your thoughts and your feelings help you to clear your mind. And… it is also scientifically proven! Journalling is used in humanistic psychotherapy. ( humanistic view in psychology is one of my favorite ones!)
Firstly, it allows for self reflection. When you write, you become aware of your thoughts and feelings! This gives way to be more objective about yourself. In this way you can examine yourself as if you are examining someone, therefore you won’t get attached to your feelings or thoughts.
Secondly, it’s like talking to a friend! In my country we have a saying that goes like ” If you keep it inside, it’ll make you sick”. I certainly believe that this is very true. Keeping things inside makes you feel more stressed. If you don’t feel like talking to a friend, if you don’t feel comfortable about talking about a certain thing, why not write it down? If you don’t have a notebook with you, grab a piece of paper and pause whatever you are doing and WRITE! I cannot express how you’ll feel relaxed afterward.
It brings your attention to here and now. Yes, we tend to live in past memories or live in future scenarios. But, we miss something important: The Now. All we have is now, and we can only use our past experiences and plan our future and achieve our dreams if we can only stop in this particular moment. Eckhart Tolle says ”Realize deeply that the present moment is all you have. Make the NOW the primary focus of your life.”
It enhances your memory! Not just journalling but writing down has the capability of enhancing your memory.
So, that’s all I have to say! Let me know in the comments below if you liked this little blog entry!
x Penny!
